This information came from Egroups.com's Sons of Thunder List, again.

...We know that Trent doesn't *like* guns, and that he refuses to carry one, but do we know that other than his accident, he's never touched one?

...He looked perfectly comfortable picking up the bad guys guns in the mall in the SOT movie and unloading them.

...(More fat to chew on) According to the Texas Private Investigator and Private Security Agencies Act, section 1702.202, you must be licensed in order to be a personal protection officer.

Now, if you'll remember Trent officially had a "personal protection" business in Everyday Heroes.

Well, guess what? In order to be licensed as a personal protection officer, you must be issued a security officer commission. And in order to be issued a security officer commission, you have to "satisfy the firearm requirements of section 1702.168(c)"

Wanna know what those requirements are?

(c) The board shall require a commissioned security officer and an applicant for a security officer commission to demonstrate to the satisfaction of a firearm training instructor who is employed by a board-approved training school that the individual has:

(1) attained proficiency in the use of firearms;

(2) complied with board standards for minimum marksmanship
competency with a shotgun; and

(3) attained with a handgun:

(3 - A) a minimum average marksmanship competency of 160 out of 300 on an "Army L" target or a minimum of 80 out of 150 on an FBI Silhouette target (NRA B-27), at 50 feet with 10 shots slow fire, 10 shots time fire, and 10 shots double-action; or

(3 - B) compliance with board standards of marksmanship.

That's right! Trent would have to qualify with a shotgun AND a handgun. Furthermore:

(e) A commissioned security officer must demonstrate the required proficiency within the 90-day period before the date the commission is renewed.

Now, in order to be a commissioned security officer, you must have a Class B license. A class B license is only good for one year. That means, Trent would have to renew his license and commission (and thereby demonstrate his firearms proficiency) every year.

...But the regulations state, you...have to shoot at a target... :-)
